Our editorial process aims to verify important factual claims before publication. Where information is developing or cannot yet be independently confirmed, the article should make that clear.

Sources and Attribution

When information comes from another publication, agency, official statement or other source, PublicScoop aims to provide appropriate attribution. We do not present another publisher's reporting as original PublicScoop reporting.

Headlines

Headlines should accurately reflect the substance of the article and should not deliberately mislead readers.

Images

Images used with stories should be relevant to the subject of the article and should be used in accordance with applicable rights and permissions.

Corrections

When a significant factual error is identified, PublicScoop aims to correct the article and, where appropriate, clarify the correction for readers.

Opinion and Reporting

News reporting and opinion should be clearly distinguishable so readers can understand the nature of the content they are reading.
