Hunkkaar – The Roar Teaser Review: Aneet Padda’s Powerful First Look Leaves Questions Behind

The teaser of Hunkkaar—The Roar doesn't give away much, and that's probably a good thing. Instead of trying to pack every major scene into just over a minute, it sets up a disturbing situation and leaves the audience wondering what really happened.

The story appears to revolve around 17-year-old Meenu Rawat, who walks into a police station with a serious complaint against a powerful spiritual figure known as Baapji. From there, the teaser hints at a much bigger fight, where the case is no longer just about one girl and one accusation.

What makes the teaser interesting is the way it shows the power surrounding the central character. Police, lawyers, influential people, and the media all seem to become part of the story. Meenu's complaint looks simple at first, but the teaser makes it clear that taking on someone like Baapji won't be easy.

Aneet Padda gets most of the emotional focus, and she makes an impression without having to do too much. There is a vulnerability to her character, but at the same time, she doesn't come across as completely helpless. That balance could become important once the full series arrives.

Fatima Sana Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, and her presence gives the teaser a different dimension. Her character appears to be caught between the investigation and the pressure that comes with a case involving someone powerful. The teaser doesn't reveal enough about her role yet, but it's one of the performances I'm particularly curious about.

The casting is another reason the series has caught attention. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor are also part of the cast, giving the show a fairly strong acting lineup.

Visually, Hunkkaar has a dark and serious mood. The police station, old fort-like locations, religious settings and low-lit interiors all add to the atmosphere. There is very little in the teaser that feels designed purely for spectacle. Instead, the makers seem to be building tension around the people and the situation.

That said, the subject itself isn't completely new. Indian films and web series have previously explored powerful godmen, abuse allegations and the struggle between an individual and an influential system. So Hunkkaar will ultimately have to offer something more than a familiar setup.

That's where the teaser leaves me slightly curious rather than completely convinced.

There is clearly a strong story here, and the cast gives it credibility. But the real test will be the writing. If the series takes the easy route and turns the story into a straightforward good-versus-evil battle, the impact could be limited. If it spends enough time showing how power actually works and how difficult it is for an ordinary person to challenge it, Hunkkaar could become much more interesting.

For now, the teaser does its job. It creates enough tension, introduces an intriguing conflict and, importantly, doesn't reveal the entire story.

Verdict: Hunkkaar—The Roar looks like a serious and promising thriller. The teaser isn't perfect, but it definitely gives enough reasons to keep an eye on the series.
