Netflix has confirmed that a new film in The Inbetweeners franchise is in development, with the original lead cast set to return.

Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas will reprise their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper. Production is due to begin on Monday.

The film, titled The Inbetweeners 3, will be written and directed by the sitcom’s creators, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris.

Netflix has also released a teaser featuring the four characters returning to their yellow Fiat. The clip shows them getting into the car before Simon struggles to start the engine.

The film will follow two previous sequels, released in 2011 and 2014. The original sitcom aired on E4 between 2008 and 2010 and followed the misadventures of four teenagers at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive.

Beyond the four lead stars, the rest of the cast has not yet been confirmed. It is not currently known whether Emily Atack will return as Charlotte Hinchcliffe or Emily Head will reprise her role as Carli D’Amato.
