Prince George is set to begin his first day at Eton College, taking another step in his education and following a family tradition.
The 13-year-old will attend the Berkshire school as a boarder after previously studying at Lambrook, an independent preparatory school in the county. He is the oldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales and is second in line to the British throne.
George’s father, Prince William, attended Eton, as did his uncle Prince Harry and his great uncle Earl Spencer. William has previously said he enjoyed being able to attend the school as “just another student”.
Eton has 25 boarding houses, each with approximately 55 pupils, supported by residential staff led by a house master. The school is close to the family’s home in Windsor, and its fees are reported to be around £65,000 a year.
The choice of school had been the subject of speculation after George completed his time at Lambrook, with several private schools suggested. He will now join a school that has educated 20 British prime ministers, as well as politicians including David Cameron, Boris Johnson, Kwasi Kwarteng and Jacob Rees-Mogg.
Other notable former pupils include actors Eddie Redmayne, Dominic West, Damian Lewis and Tom Hiddleston.
