Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi on September 2 and requested faster progress on the Adilabad and Mamunur airport projects in the state.
Reddy said the required land acquisition for Mamunur Airport had been completed and handed over. He also requested cargo and passenger terminal facilities, along with a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility, at Adilabad Airport.
The Chief Minister sought a joint meeting of the Defence and Civil Aviation ministries to finalise the runway at Adilabad Airport.
According to the Telangana government, Naidu said tenders for Mamunur Airport would be invited within two weeks, finalised by December and followed by foundation work in the same month.
The meeting also covered the development of heli-tourism in Telangana and a proposed seaplane landing facility at Hussain Sagar. Civil Aviation officials said a report on the seaplane proposal would be submitted to the state government within two weeks.
MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Suresh Shetkar, State Government Advisor (Protocol) Harkara Venugopala Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, CM Secretary Manik Raj and other officials attended the meeting.
