Sigma Advanced Systems has begun production at its aerospace manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, the company said in a press release dated September 10, 2026.

The company said the facility moved from construction to active production in eight months. Its first batch of precision-machined aerospace components has been manufactured and shipped to Sigma UK, where the components are undergoing final verification before formal delivery to the customer.

The Sri City operation covers approximately 75,000 square feet and currently provides 100,000 annual machining hours of production capacity. The first facility is budgeted to scale to nearly 300,000 annual machining hours.

The broader aerospace manufacturing campus is being developed across 500,000 square feet. Sigma said the remaining campus is expected to become operational over the next 12 months and will add further manufacturing capacity and aerospace-critical processes.

Once the planned capabilities are fully operational, approximately 70% of the manufacturing process is expected to be undertaken in India, according to the company. Sigma also said the Sri City operation had completed the initial stages of the source-change approval process with Rolls-Royce Aerospace.

Over the next two to three years, the company expects the Sri City facility to employ more than 500 people across precision manufacturing, complex fabrications, specialised welding, engineering and aerospace process capabilities.

Sigma said it will continue expanding the facility, commissioning additional aerospace-critical processes, progressing NADCAP accreditation and increasing the proportion of manufacturing carried out in India.

The company’s CEO and Executive Director, Sunil Kalidindi, described the facility’s start of production as an important milestone in Sigma’s development as a global aerospace manufacturing partner. He said the company’s objective was to replicate its UK manufacturing capabilities in India and progressively bring more of the aerospace manufacturing value chain into the country.
