Movie Artist Association Strongly Condemns MLA Anirudh Reddy’s Derogatory Remarks Against the Film Fraternity

0

The Movie Artistes Association (MAA) President Vishnu Manchu and Vice President Madala Ravi condemned the recent controversial statements made by Telangana MLA J. Anirudh Reddy.

Responding to the MLA’s suggestion MAA President Vishnu Manchu took to social media to provide a sharp reality check.

“Good suggestion. Now just wondering — what’s the equivalent test before filing a nomination for elections? I am sure the voters would be happy to collaborate on a common framework with the respected MLA.”

MAA Vice President Madala Ravi responded saying that it is “distasteful,” “baseless,” and “deeply offensive”. He emphasized that the Telugu film industry is built on discipline and has consistently contributed to society’s growth.

Madala Ravi pointed out that many actors are highly educated and respected individuals who have been honored with prestigious national awards like the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.

He cited legends such as N.T. Rama Rao, ANR, Krishna, Krishnam Raju, Chiranjeevi, Madala Ranga Rao, and R. Narayana Murthy, who used cinema to deliver powerful social messages. Many Tollywood actors are Nationally and Internationally Fame.

Madala Ravi criticized the MLA for judging an entire fraternity based on the actions of a few. He questioned if it would be fair to call all politicians corrupt just because of the mistakes of a few individuals.

Madala Ravi highlighted that the Movie Artistes Association is proactive in social causes, specifically in the fight against drug abuse.

He noted that MAA works closely with the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau.

Leading actors like Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, and Vijay Deverakonda have actively led campaigns to warn the youth against harmful substances.

Madala Ravi concluded by stating that the film industry remains committed to its social duties and will continue to fight against the drug menace until it is completely eliminated.

Movie Review: Suvarna – decent horror-comedy

0

Release Date: April 3, 2026

Cast: Pallavi, Shakalaka Shankar, Jagadeesh, Varnika, Jabardasth Rajamouli, Pawan, Devi, Shiva, and Srihari.

Director & Producer: Ashok Royya

Banner: Aradhya Creations

Rating: 2.5/5

Introduction

In today’s fast-paced digital world, the mobile phone has become an inseparable part of human life. However, this convenience often turns into an addiction, with the younger generation sometimes risking their futures for “viral reels.” Suvarna, directed and produced by Ashok Royya, attempts to explore the dark side of this digital obsession through the lens of a horror-comedy. Released on April 3, 2026, across the Telugu states, the film aims to deliver a message wrapped in supernatural thrills.

Story Line

The story follows a happy young couple who recently moved into a new home. While the husband is occupied with his construction business, the wife, Mahalakshmi (Pallavi), manages the household. During a routine cleaning, she discovers a mysterious mobile phone hidden in the house. The moment she begins using it, her behavior shifts drastically. Possessed by a vengeful spirit, she becomes obsessed with filming social media reels at all hours. The rest of the narrative tracks the husband’s desperate struggle to uncover the history of the phone and save his wife from the ghost’s digital trap.

Performances

Apart from the well-known comedian Shakalaka Shankar, the cast primarily consists of fresh faces who have delivered sincere performances. Pallavi, playing the lead role of Mahalakshmi, stands out with an impressive performance, successfully transitioning from a simple housewife to a possessed entity. Shakalaka Shankar provides much-needed relief with his trademark comedy timing, while Pawan’s comedic track also generates genuine laughs. The supporting cast, including Jagadeesh and Jabardasth Rajamouli, fit their roles well.

Technical Analysis

Despite being a small-budget venture, the film boasts visually appealing locations and decent production values. The background score and songs are effective in building the eerie atmosphere required for a horror flick. Director Ashok Royya has managed to take a somewhat routine “haunted house” template and give it a modern twist by centering the horror around a mobile phone. While the plot beats are familiar, the screenplay keeps the audience engaged with well-timed twists and comedy punches.

Highlights of the Film

  • The “Mobile Ghost” Concept: Using a phone as a medium for possession is a contemporary and interesting hook.
  • Social Message: The film ends with a strong, thought-provoking message aimed at today’s youth regarding the dangers of social media addiction.
  • Comedy Sequences: The blend of horror and humor is balanced well, ensuring the film remains an entertainer for families.
  • Climax: The final act is well-executed and provides a satisfying resolution to the mystery.

Drawbacks

  • Routine Plot: At its core, the story follows a standard horror trajectory that might feel predictable to seasoned fans of the genre.
  • Pacing: Some scenes in the first half feel stretched, and the transition into the horror element could have been tighter.
  • Limited Scale: Being a small project, certain technical limitations in the VFX department are noticeable in high-intensity scenes.

Verdict

Suvarna is a decent horror-comedy that succeeds in being a “family-friendly” supernatural thriller. While it stays within the boundaries of a traditional ghost story, its focus on the pitfalls of modern technology makes it relevant. With a mix of scares, laughs, and a cautionary message for the younger generation, it is a one-time watch for those who enjoy social-dramas with a spooky twist.

Directed by debutant Manasa Sharma, the film stars Sangeeth Shobhan and Nayan Sarika in lead roles. With an interesting blend of comedy, fantasy, and horror elements, the film arrived with decent expectations.

Story Line

The narrative revolves around a mysterious village named Rakavara, where an age-old ritual demands a human sacrifice to a Brahma Rakshasa residing in a haunted fort. In the present timeline, Veerababu returns from abroad, only to get caught in this dangerous tradition. The story then unfolds as he tries to escape the deadly fate while uncovering the truth behind the curse.

Actors Performance

Sangeeth Shobhan delivers an entertaining performance, once again proving his strength in comedy timing and screen presence. His interactions, especially in humorous situations, work effectively.
Vennela Kishore adds a strong comedic boost in the latter half, while Getup Srinu contributes with his unique style of humor.
Nayan Sarika plays her role neatly, and experienced actors like Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, and Ashish Vidyarthi provide solid support.

Technicians Work

The film scores well on the technical front. The production values are rich, giving the movie a polished look.
Anudeep Dev’s music fits the narrative, while cinematography by Edurolu Raju effectively captures both eerie and vibrant visuals.
The editing by Anwar Ali is mostly sharp, and the VFX and production design successfully create a believable fantasy backdrop.

Highlights of the Film

  • Clean and entertaining horror-comedy suitable for family audiences
  • Strong comedy sequences in the second half
  • Sangeeth Shobhan’s performance and comic timing
  • Effective blend of humor and supernatural elements
  • Good production quality and visual presentation

Drawbacks

  • Slow-paced first half with a routine setup
  • Certain logical gaps in the fantasy elements
  • Emotional depth of the antagonist could have been stronger

Analysis

Rakasa works better as a light-hearted entertainer rather than a serious horror film. While the first half takes time to build momentum, the second half picks up with engaging comedy and decent twists. Director Manasa Sharma shows promise by balancing humor with a supernatural storyline, though the narrative could have been tighter.

Verdict

Overall, Rakasa is a decent horror-comedy film that offers fun moments and family-friendly entertainment. Despite a few predictable and slow portions, it manages to entertain with its humor and performances.
