Former Ashes-winning batter Kevin Pietersen has joined England’s white-ball coaching team as a specialist mentor ahead of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
The 46-year-old will begin his role during England’s upcoming T20 and one-day matches against Sri Lanka. He is also set to be involved in the team’s winter tours to Australia and South Africa.
Pietersen will work with England during next summer’s home series against Pakistan and New Zealand, as well as at the 50-over World Cup, which will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in the autumn.
England white-ball head coach Brendon McCullum said Pietersen had made an “amazing impact on English cricket” and praised his experience, knowledge and stature.
“I’ve got immense respect for KP and what he’s achieved in the game,” McCullum said. “So for someone with his experience, knowledge and stature to want to play a role with this team is a fantastic result.”
